Lot Essay

We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD for confirming the attribution to Cornelis de Heem, on the basis of photographs (private communication, 7 February 2008). Mr. Meijer notes a similar work by the artist, dated 1658 (Städelsches Museum, Frankfurt) and suggests a comparable date for this work.
