A head and shoulder portrait photograph of Dame Edith wearing an elaborate turban to which she is clasping a bejewelled hand -- 12½ x 10in; together with a signed programme (title-page only) for the society of Twentieth Century Music, 19th May 1952, signed and inscribed by Dame Edith; both items mounted together, framed and glazed.

Lot Essay

The president of the Society of Twentieth Century Music was Sir William Walton, with whom Dame Edith had collaborated on the libretto for 'Belshazzar's Feast' and the songs 'Bucolic Comedies' (later revised as 'Three Songs'.
