...Laura Knight, who was always in the wings and dressing rooms sketching and painting. She did a most attractive portrait of Gwen (Ffrancon Davies) dressing as Juliet and she knocked at my door one evening and sketched me as I was cleaning my teeth, made up, dressed for Romeo. (John Gielgud, Early Stages, London, 1939, p.80).
