Lionel Jacobson (1905-1978) was the Chairman, Managing Director and President of Jackson the Tailors, a tailoring company based in Newcastle. The business merged with Burtons in 1953, after the death of its founder, Sir Montague Burton (1885-1952), and Jacobson became Chairman.

Jacobson's interest in contemporary British art developed at this time, and his collection included works by David Bomberg, L.S. Lowry (who he met at the Stone Gallery in Newcastle) and Henry Moore. Much of the collection was sold at Newcastle auctioneers, Anderson and Garland, in 2008.
