in an 18th century carved and gilded frame in the Regence style, possibly French; with egg-and-dart to the outer edge; outer scotia; the eared corners of the cross-hatched ogee moulding with hatched cartouches with flowers flanked by strapwork at top and scrolling gadrooning at sides, and by tendrils and scrolling foliage running to scallop shells centres; astragal; taenia; recessed sanded band; reeded ovolo twisted by laurel leaf motives; cavetto at sight edge
