Gelatin silver print, trimmed as a post-card. 1967. Titled IDENTICAL TWINS. DIANE ARBUS POSTCARD and inscribed Dear Stewart- From now till May 7 there's one third of a show of my photographs in the Museum of Modern Art. I wish you could see it. Its just much more beautiful than I had ever seen it at home. Did I tell you about my car? Sometimes it ails but makes me very happy and I am beginning to explore Bklyn and N.J. It would be so good to see you...-D, in ink on the verso with cancelled stamps and postmarks.

Lot Essay

Stewart Stern and Arbus became friends as children while attending the Fieldston School in Riverdale, New York. The two remained close friends and Stern later became an executive in Hollywood.
