Lot Essay

According to Marchesseau (op cit.) Chat maître d'hôtel was executed in two versions. The first, conceived in 1961, shows the cat holding a rectangular platter; the second version, conceived in 1967, to which the present work belongs, shows a cat holding a bowl with its tail slightly off the ground.
