Lot Essay

Dr. Crotch was a talented musician and became the first Principal of the Royal Academy of Music. He was an etcher and an amateur watercolourist. As is seen on the reverse of the present watercolour, Crotch often includes notes on the reverse of his work, giving atmospheric detail and other information.
