Lot Essay

Murer's multi-talented life saw him proving himself as an artist, poet and even a renowned pastry cook, as shown in Camille Pissarro's depiction of the artist at his pastry oven. A portrait of Murer by Renoir hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. In the current work, the artist depicts the blooms with free flowing, fast paced brush strokes.
