Falconet's library was particularly strong in medicine and natural history and included manuscripts, maps, and prints. Falconet came from a long line of physicians; he was consulted during the illness of Louis XIV and became 'médecin consultant' to Louis XV. Nearly 11,000 volumes included in this catalogue, their lot numbers and descriptions bracketed, were given to the Bibliothèque du Roi by Falconet, only reserving their use during his lifetime. Cushing F20; North 169; Taylor, p. 132, 240-241; not in Blogie.
