FIVE SOAPSTONE SEALS
LATE 18TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
First seal is carved with a wave motif to the top, bearing a four-character mark reading mei yi yan nian; the second seal is signed with long quan shan ren and dated July of the ren chen year (1892), bearing a four-character mark reading wu jin chao shi; the third seal is carved with a beast with wings to the upper half and bearing a two-character mark reading zhong li; the fourth is carved with a standing qilin and signed with meng quan wai shi and dated spring of the ren zi year (1792), bearing a three-character mark reading jin shi pi. The last seal carved with a horned beast to the upper surface, signed xin quan, bearing a two-character mark reading jue fei.

Lot Essay

Zhao mu(1845-1894), famous artist, calligrapher and seal carver, long quan shan ren is one of his many artistic style names.
Xi gang(1746-1803), famous artist, calligrapher and seal carver, one of the Eight master of xi leng. meng quan wai shi is one of his many artistic style names.
