The composition of the central panel of this triptych relates to Gerard David's The Nativity with Donors and Saints Jerome and Leonard (New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art), and Hugo van der Goes' Portinari altarpiece (Florence, Uffizi) and was probably painted in Flanders. Research into the sitters' coats-of-arms has proved inconclusive.
