Lot Essay

The subject is taken from Plutarch, Lives 33:12. Timoclea of Thebes was raped by one of Alexander's commanders and avenged herself by tipping the rapist in a well as he peered over the edge. Subsequently she was brought before Alexander who set her free praising her courage and spirit.
