FOUR SMALL EARLY JADE ZOOMORPHIC PENDANTS
LATE SHANG-EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 11TH-10TH CENTURY BC
The largest is an ivory-colored, opaque figure of a crouching dragon with simply defined mouth, and with a hole in the head that is pierced from both sides. One is a dark grey-green jade bird with tapered tail and a pierced, tapered breast. The last two are a miniature, semi-translucent bird and a miniature, opaque, buff-colored cicada carved in the round.
2½, 1 5/8, 1 and 5/8 in. (6.3, 4.1, 2.6 and 2.2 cm.) long
