The present drawing appears to relate to Granet’s paintings depicting the Church of the Capuchins in Rome during Napoleon’s occupation of the city. Several painted compositions of this subject exist, one of these, The choir of the Capuchin church in Rome is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (inv. 80.5.2; see G. Toscano, Ingres, Granet et la Reine de Naples, Montreuil, 2017, p. 63).
