Mason, [1844]. 8vo., 22p. + advertisement leaf, etched portrait with aquatint (light stains to portrait), original printed wrappers (minor rust marks to front wrapper), preserved in solander case with a mounted one-page letter to Harry Altham from Rowland Bowen, dated Lord's 25 April [no year], informing him about the "three forms" of the publication. Provenance: H.S. Altham.

Issue with only one portrait, that of the author, F.W. Lillywhite, the renowned pioneer of round arm bowling. As the wrapper states, this was sold at 1s. compared to 2s. for the issue "with portraits of four players", and 3s 6d. for the issue "with portraits of four gentlemen and four players, neatly bound in cloth".
