2o (260 x 187 mm). Large woodcut on title and 3 full-page woodcut illustrations one signed "UG" [Urs Graf] one (repeated on title) showing the author preaching and one of the translator presenting the book. Contemporary calf over wooden boards, richly stamped in blind with leaf and floral hand- and roll-tools around a central lozenge stamp with the cross and the letters "HIS" lower cover with similar design and a stamp of the Virgin Mary in center, two calf and brass clasps. Provenance: Richard Zoozmann (large bookplate and notes at beginning and end); purchased from Lucien Goldschmidt, 6 April 1955.

The binding, probably of Strassburg origin, is IN VERY FINE condition. Geiler's sermons in the Strassburg Münster were marked by uncommon exempla, bold and often down-to-earth turns of phrase, and great erudition. Some of the published sermon collections may be unreliable, since he delivered the sermons in German from Latin drafts. Adams G-322; Muther 1502.
