A Treatise on English Shooting. London: J. Cooke, 1773. 8° (occasional pencil scoring), red half morocco by Bayntun, spine gilt. Second edition of "the first book solely on guns and game: on how to shoot it, as well as concise information on the fowling-piece, powder, shot and flints" (Chute). ESTC records only 4 copies of this edition, and one copy of the first edition published the previous year. cf. Chute 192.
The Art of English Shooting. London: J. Cooke at Shakespeare's Head, [c. 1775]. 29, [1]p + blank + 12p. advertisements, 8°, engraved frontispiece (some spotting of text, lower corners creased), contemporary marbled wrappers (extremities worn). Provenance: 1786 gift inscription on frontispiece verso. A reissue of the Treatise on English Shooting (pp. 1-23), also containing abstracts of game laws and a poem (pp. 24-29). This copy collates with the issue dated [1775?] in ESTC but has a variant imprint. cf. Chute 193; Schwerdt I, p. 158. (2)
