Lamberts was not a professional draughtsman, but is known for his many topographical drawings done mainly in and around Amsterdam, where he was director of the Rijksmuseum from 1824 until his death in 1850. Many views in Amsterdam by him from the Atlas of Amsterdam of the Leonhardt family were sold in these Rooms, 20 November 1989, lots 256-88.
The first church in Amstelveen was built in the 12th Century, and later destroyed and reconstructed several times. It was rebuilt again in circa 1590 and stands today.
