A young lady, in embellished black bodice over white shift with pink ribbon tied at elbow, white partly-standing lace collar, wearing gem and drop-pearl set brooch at corsage, black hat adorned with pink ribbon, ostrich feather and gem and drop-pear set brooch
Signed with initials and dated 'G.S.f / 1745' (lower right)
On ivory
Oval, 45 mm. high, gilt-metal mount within tortoiseshell panel, set into the interior cover of a circular gold-mounted vernis-martin snuff-box decorated with green foliage on a frosted gold ground
