Lot Essay

cf. Domus, April 1061, pp. 15-17 for images of the Stork Club in Milan with stools of this model.

We would like to thank Brian Kish for his assistance in the cataloguing of this lot.

Frattini first used these stools for the Stork Club he designed in Milan in 1958. All of the interior as well as the furniture in the club was designed by Frattini and executed by the furniture company Bernini.
Frattini worked in Gio Ponti's office until the mid-1950s and subsequently opened his own architectural practice. Ponti used some of Frattini's furnishings along with pieces by Carlo de Carli and Ico and Luisa Parisi for three hotels he designed: the Hotel Royal Naples (1955) and the two Parco dei Principi hotels in Sorrento (1962) and Rome (1964).
