Il représente un soldat debout, les bras le long du corps. Il est vêtu d'un long manteau droit de couleur verte légèrement entrouvert. Il est chaussé de bottes et porte un casque qui lui couvre la nuque. Ses yeux sont exorbités lui donnant un air effrayant. Il porte une longue barbe. Certains détails de son visage sont peints.

Lot Essay

This rare large figure is similar to one in the Tenri Sankokan Museum, Japan, illustrated by W. Watson, Tang and Liao Ceramics, New York, 1984, p. 211, no. 231, where the figure is described as Central Asian. Another similar large figure in the Shanghai Museum is illustrated by J. Fontein and R. Hempel, China, Korea, Japan, Berlin, 1968, pl. 128.

The dating is consistent with the Oxford Authentification thermoluminescence test no. 466d30.
