The maps show the Navajo reservation, and the reservations at Fort McDowell, Fort Verde, Fort Apache, Fort Bowie, Fort Selden and Point Loma. He reports on the activities on the reservations, including numbers of inhabitant, food supplies, attacks, etc. He notes that there has been a "remarkable increase of the population of our country in the last few years" and that the transcontinental railroad has increased the number of emigrants to the West.
