Lot Essay

Allingham studied at the Birmingham School of Design and came to London and the Royal Academy Schools. She was inspired by artists such as Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899) and Frederick Walker (1840-1875). In the spring of 1868 she visited Italy and excecuted a number of watercolours inspired by the surrounding landscape.
