Lot Essay

George of Teck was the eldest son of Adolphus of Teck (1868-1927) and his wife Lady Margaret (1873-1929), daughter of the 1st Duke of Westminster (1825-1899). Adolphus of Teck was granted the qualification of Highness by King George V in 1911. This was later relinquished, together with his German title in 1917 when he was created Marquess of Cambridge.
