Lot Essay

The Vacheron Constantin 'Historiques' line represents an impressive reflection of the brand's heritage, the modern versions of the legendary timepieces underlining the know-how and bold spirit continuously maintained by the celebrated brand.

Reference 47101 was launched in 1989 and remained in production until 2004. The model pays tribute to the firm's celebrated reference 4178 from the 1940s. The caliber 1140 is based on a Lémania 2320, heavily modified and finished by Vacheron Constantin. The majority was cased in yellow gold, according to researches only around 300 examples in platinum were made.
