MEZCALA STONE FIGURE, TYPE M10

Of statuesque form, the broad-shouldered figure with a substantial facial plane with abstracted features.

"At the best, the M-10 type epitomizes Mezcala sculpture, representing an optimal solution to carving a viable portrayal of the human figure in an intractable material and with the simplest tools" (ibid, p. 51).
