Pavlovsk is one of the Imperial Romanov summer palaces south east of St Petersburg. It was built for the Russian Tsar Paul I, only son of Catherine the Great. Work started on the palace in 1781 under the guidance of the Scottish architect Charles Cameron. The park is very extensive, originally being of about 1500 acres, and this lot depicts one of it's beautiful lakes.
