A student of Keyser, Col was a genre painter who was awarded the Order of Léopold in 1875 and promoted to Officier in in 1885. He exhibited at Dunkerque, Ypres, Vienna and Philadelphia and gained several medals. The museums of Anvers , Chicago, Cincinnati and Montreal have conserved his works
