Raffaëlli made a drawing after this painting entitled la soupe de midi, that was exhibited at his first one-man show, the Exposition Jean Franois Raffaëlli in Paris in 1884. The drawing was also reproduced in the Gazette des Beaux-Arts of 1884 (p.336) in an article entitled Oeuvers de J.F. Raffaëlli.

Brame and Lorenceau has confirmed the authenticity of the present work.
