As if born from an industrial model, these ethereal, glimmering webs cling to a heavy, hulking mast of thick chain, offering the perfect counterpoint to the two demi-scale realized webs.
As many describe these works to be a "labor of love", it is also a devotion to the material, the potential of the material, and its function as a quickening device for memory and recollection. The work opens up on multiple levels, becoming as beautiful and concrete as the item it represents while also allowing the inherent delight in experiencing these web works as beautiful through the artist's process and love of subject.
As the artist states "I'm motored by a need to be generous, to give more and be more. It's been my experience that beauty helps people, that adding beauty to the world makes it a better place" (The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) Alpert Awards, 2006).
