Tullia was the daughter of the famed early Roman King Servius Tullius who reigned in the 6th century B.C. She consipired to place her husband Tarquin the Proud on her father's throne, and Servius was killed in the street after being thrown from the Senate. The present composition shows Tullia driving her chariot over his body in her rush to join her husband.
