A collection of material given to a decorator working at Kenwood in 1964 by John Lennon including: 31 rare 35mm Kodachrome colour transparencies of three of The Beatles on holiday in the sun in 1964, including: 11 intimate portraits of John and Cynthia, seven of these showing the couple looking tanned, relaxed and happy on board a yacht in Tahiti, 5th May - 26th May, 1964; other shots include: six portraits of Paul McCartney relaxing and posing on various boats in Miami, February, 1964 on the Beatles first visit to the USA; other shots include John, Paul and Cynthia lounging by the pool and larking about at a private villa in Miami, February, 1964; Paul and George posing for a photo shoot in the sea in Miami; and various shots of George on board a boat; six colour transparencies taken around Kenwood, 1964 [all probably copy-transparencies], four featuring shots of John's burgundy Rolls-Royce; a corresponding tax disc expiring Dec. '64 for Lennon's Rolls; a Pathe News 16mm black and white film with typescript details on label The Beatles Come To Town and Copy No. 1; and a recent copy of a colour snap-shot of John Lennon with the recipient of this material taken at Kenwood in circa 1964 -- 4¼x5¾in. Cynthia Lennon has fond memories of her holiday in Tahiti with John in May, 1964. They were accompanied by George and his new girlfriend Patti Boyd and managed to escape the press by chartering a boat with a Tahitian crew who had no idea who the Beatles were. Cynthia describes this holiday as precious. In her recent memoir she wrote of their holiday time in 1964: ...We felt no pressure to make these holidays perfect they just were because we were together and away from it all...John was happy. For a while he forgot about the securitry guards, the press, the fans and the endless demands. He laughed, fooled around and enjoyed himself...
