This is one of a series of drawings executed by Lennon at The Imperial Hotel Torquay. On the strength of this series the publisher won the contract for Lennon's two books In His Own Write, 1964 and A Spaniard In The Works, 1965. Another drawing from this series was used to illustrate the cover of the souvenir concert programme for The Night Of A Hundred Stars, July 23rd, a special midnight revue held in aid of the Combined Theatrical Charities Appeals Council at the London Palladium.
