Lot Essay

An unusual double detail, each showing a different example of the smaller arches high in the walls between the massive piers supporting the main arches of the mosque courtyards. Coincidentally, or perhaps by design, the curves of the larger arches perform a serpentine turn as they join in reverse directions at the inner edge of the two images, adding to the illusion of the two being a single image.
