King Charles III acceded to the Spanish throne in 1759.
A fine fan commemorating the birth of his son, the Infante Philip, Duke of Calabria, showing Queen Marie Amalia in bed in the Palace of Portici with King Charles III of the Two Sicilies,as he then was, beside it, painted in 1747, was sold at Christie's South Kensington on September 19, 2000, lot 29.
