Krug was established in 1843 and is today run by Henri, Rémi and Olivier Krug, who represent the 5th and 6th generations of the family. Krug is the only firm that still produces all its champagne in small oak casks, a critical stage in helping to develop the complexity of flavours. It is a house that produces only prestige and specialised champagnes, with the finest being Clos du Mesnil, a 100% Chardonnay based champagne coming from the small walled vineyard at Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. This is one of the world’s greatest Blanc de Blanc champagnes.
