THE VERY BEST OF BURGUNDY AND BORDEAUX
Here is an opportunity to bid on the bery best of Burgundy including banded cases of DRC Assortment from the 2002 vintage in rare magnums and 1997 vintage in bottles. All were purchased directly from the Domaine and stored in temperature-controlled professional storage until this sale. Later in the sale is another offering of the very best of Bordeaux...
LA TACHE
So often, La Tâche plays second fiddle to Romanée-Conti. It's true, La Tâche is bigger than Romanée-Conti (6.06hc versus Romanéee-Conti's 1.8hc) and it produces more wine on average than all of the rest of DRC's vineyards (owing to the fact that it is a monopole, and DRC's other vineyards are shared). The vineyard's history is storied.
La Tâche--Vintage 1996
Côte de Nuits, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
Lightly scuffed labels
"('It's quite possible that the '96 will be the longest lived of any La Tâche produced in many years' - Aubert de Villaine) Fantastically pure with the classic spice box, hoisin and soy nose followed by big, rich, very structured flavors that display notes of earth, leather and tea. The tannins are big, ripe and are completely buffered by the sap with length that is simply phenomenal. This remains completely primary in character and seems not to have budged at all since it was bottled. A genuinely great vintage for La Tâche that should improve for another decade and last for 50 years. Very classy juice." BH, January 2010
