Original pink boards, uncut (skilfully rebacked, preserving a portion of the original paper label, rubbed); cloth folding case. Provenance: Frank J. Hogan (morocco bookplate) sold Parke-Bernet, New York, 25 April 1945, lot 412; purchased from Seven Gables Bookshop, New York, 25 August 1969. Exhibited: Grolier Club, 'This powerfull rime,' 1975, no. 48.
FIRST EDITION, including Lamb's noted poem "The Old Familiar Faces." Of the twenty poems, thirteen are by Lloyd and seven are by Lamb, being the first significant selection of Lamb's work to appear in print. His first published verse had appeared in Coleridge's Poems on Various Subjects, 1796. Ashley III, pp.38-39; Hayward 210; Roff, p. 31ff. FINE COPY IN THE ORIGINAL BOARDS.
