A JADEITE 'SQUIRREL AND GRAPES' WATER POT AND COVER
LATE QING DYNASTY
The domed water pot is carved with a squirrel presenting a grape perched on a thinly carved leafy vine bearing further grapes which coils around the vessel. The cover is surmounted by a smiling boy on one knee, holding the stem of a lotus pod in one hand and a tasselled rope in the other. The stone is of a mottled tone with spinach and apple green inclusions.
