Lot Essay

The first inscription may be translated as 'fools rush in where angels fear to tread', the inscription 'Henry Zorg' would seem to be an old attribution to Hendrick Sorgh (c. 1610-1670). Pieter Koops of the Gemeentelijke Archiefdienst, Delft kindly suggests that this drawing may be dated to the 1630-40s.
