To be compared with a series of forty-four similar portraits, removed from the Palace of San Martino Gusnago, between Mantua and Brescia, where they formed part of the ceiling decoration. Six of this series are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and a further twelve are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The series is thought to be the work of a Lombard artist, active in the first quarter of the 16th century, for which see F. Zeri and E.E. Gardner, A Catalogue of the Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; North Italian School, 1986, pp.72-74, fig. 59-61.
