These roundels clearly formed part of the same predella as the that of Christ as Man of Sorrows in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, no. A803. This was attributed to Benedetto Bonfigli in 1951. The attribution to Caporali was proposed independently by Francis Russell and Federico Zeri (see C. Lloyd, A Catalogue of the Earlier Italian Paintings in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, 1977, pp. 44-5) and is accepted by Todini (F. Todini, La Pittura Umbra dal Duocento al primo Cinquecento Milan, 1989, I, p. 51, II, pl. 812). Roundels lit in the same way occur in the fresco of 1468 from the monastery of S. Giuliana, Perugia (Perugia, Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria).
