Each with pierced spoon-shaped back, with central splat and downswept arms, decorated with scrolled stylised and foliate-trailed urn, the shaped buttoned and close-nailed black suede seat above husk-trailed splayed legs with brass caps and castors, redecorated, minor repairs to rails

Lot Essay

This form relates to Roman chair patterns published in the supplement to The London Cabinet-makers and Carvers' Book of Prices,1802. Related chairs were supplied in 1806 to West Park, Shropshire (see P. Rogers, 'A Regency Interior' Furniture History, 1987, p. 32, fig 3).
