WEST ANATOLIA, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The field with a reciprocal red and blue hooked lattice overall around an indigo and two red reserves containing starflower octagons, a green and red arrowhead arcaded panel above and below with ascending branch motifs, all within a red border of polychrome latched diamonds enclosing latchhook motifs between red and ivory stylized floral guard borders, minor areas of repiling and repair, light wear, minor losses to ends
Approximately 6ft. 11in. x 5ft. 11in. (211cm. x 180cm.)

Warp: white and ivory wool, Z2S, not depressed, slightly undulating
Weft: four shoots, red wool, Z1, rarely two shoots, undulating
Pile: wool, Z2S, knots symmetrical slightly inclined to the left, H2.4 x V2.6/cm.
Sides: ground-shoot and blue wool shoot, Z2S, bound in flatweave with one warp and eight pairs of warps, blue and red coloured areas sometimes separated from each other by diagonal slits (slit kilim)
