CENTRAL ANATOLIA, CIRCA 1875
The open deep brick mihrab beneath a stepped sea-green arch filled with polychrome rosettes and surmounted by a floral reserve and within a saffron border with rosettes and rectangular floral cartouches, areas of repair, rewoven ends
Approximately 4ft.9in. x 3ft.9in. (145cm. x 114cm.)
Warp: ivory to light brown wool Z2S, sometimes slightly depressed, undulating
Weft: 2 shoots, sometimes 3, occasionally 4, red wool Z1, light brown in the lower third, first (and third) undulating, second (and fourth) more so
Pile: wool Z2, sometimes Z3, symmetrical inclining to the left, H2.0 x V3.0/cm.
Sides: additional red wool weft Z1 and the main weft flatwoven around two additional pairs of warps
