WEST ANATOLIA, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY

The central indigo, brick and cream radiating latched diamond medallion on a brick "bug" cruciform latched reserve flanked by cinnamon brown and indigo bracket motifs containing flowerheads or latch-hooks all on a brick-red field with an indigo latch-hook Turkic lattice flanked by cinnamon spandrels with geometric forms, a brick-red stylized floral meander border between deep brown guard stripes with a brick zigzag and cream triangles (partial side borders, one minor partial end with attached kilim, repairs throughout)
Approximately 6ft. x 5ft. 2in. (183cm. x 157cm.)

Warp: white wool, Z2s, slightly depressed, undulating
Weft: two shoots, sometimes three, red and dark red wool, Z1, the first (and third) undulating, the second sometimes more strongly undulating
Pile: wool, Z2, knots symmetrical inclined to the left and right, and not inclined, H2.4 x V3.6/cm.
Upper end: flatwoven with dark brown, red and blue wool, Z1
Remarks: supplementary shoots, row adjustments
