CENTRAL ANATOLIA, LATE 18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The shaded brick-red field with a central angular floral spray, the double arched light blue mihrab panel above with two similar motifs, a cross-panel below of arcading issuing stylised tulips, in a light blue floral meander inner frame, in a shaded indigo rosette and angular tulip spray border between aubergine and brick-red stellar flowerhead meander and minor stripes, area of wear, corroded brown, areas of repiling, ends rewoven, selvages replaced with slight repairs to guard stripe, small repair to centre
Approximately 5ft.10in. x 3ft.9in. (178cm. x 114cm.)

Warp: white wool, Z2S, slightly depressed, undulating
Weft: two shoots, brown wool, Z1, the first undulating, the second strongly undulating
Pile: wool, Z2, symmetrical inclined to the left, H3.1 x V5.4/cm.
