The rust-red field with three rectangular blue panels containing hooked motifs alternating with paired polychrome Memling guls, all divided by rows of stylised polychrome quadrupeds and minor stepped lozenges, in a royal blue panelled border of polychrome rosettes occasionally alternating with animals or human figures divided by barber-pole batons between minor mill-pattern stripes, very small repairs, replaced selvages, slight loss at one end, good pile Approximately 10ft.9in x 2ft.11in. (326cm. x 89cm.)
Warp: wool, white, ivory, 1 strand white with 2 strands ivory or 2 strands white with 1 strand ivory, Z3S, slightly undulating
Weft: 3, 4 or occasionally 2 shoots, red wool, Z2S, undulating
Pile: wool, Z2S, symmetrical inclining to the left, right or neither, H31 x V34/cm.
