A NORTH WEST PERSIAN CORRIDOR CARPET
EARLY 19TH CENTURY

The abrashed indigo field with a bold overall harshang design of large palmettes, flowerheads, vine and panels issuing split palmettes, in an ivory border of angular meandering vine with inner green flowerhead and plain stripes, outer stripe reduced, selvages rebound, extensive flatweave repairs
Approximately 15ft.5in. x 5ft.4in. (469cm. x 163cm.)

Warp: Z4S, 3 strands white cotton, and 1 strand dark brown wool, slightly undulating, not depressed
Weft: 2 shoots, light brown, sometimes light red wool, Z2, undulating
Pile: wool, Z2, symmetrical inclining to the right, H2.4 x V3.1/cm.
